Reflection File! :D

To start, I want to say that I liked very much the English' classes of these three years!
I think that I was always a good student because I had good notes in summative tests, I did all the homeworks and other works, and I was always ponctual, responsible and organized...
I'm going to miss these English' classes... and I 'm going to miss the teacher Teresina, too (of course!) :)
I liked very much to do works, for exemple, the portfolio, using the new technologies (computer, Internet..). It was very funny, interesting and it help me to understand some things...

Finally, I think that I deserve a 4 (four)... :)

Good Holidays, for everybody!!! :D

The Nightingale and the Rose

"The Nightingale and the Rose" is a beautiful, romantic but tragic story! However, I liked very much! :)
This is a summary of the story... I hope you like it!

One day, a boy arrived to a holm-oak tree very sad and crying because the girl who he liked only will dance with him, that night, if he gives her a red rose.
But the problem was that in his garden there isn’t a red rose.
The nightingale that was in the holm-oak tree was very sad, and she was sorry for the boy, so she decided to go looking for a red rose to the boy.
The nightingale looked for the red rose everywhere. She asked to many trees but anyone had a red rose.
After some time, the nightingale found a tree that had red roses, but to get one the nightingale was to sing all night.
However, if the nightingale sang all night, she would die.
The nightingale said that Death was a good price to pay a red rose. She said that Love is more important than Life, too.
So, the nightingale sang all night, she suffered very much, but in the end she could get a red rose for the boy.
In the following morning, when the boy woke up, he saw a beautiful red rose in his garden.
Then he ran to the house of his love (Professor’s daughter). But the girl didn’t want the rose, she said that jewels were better than flowers.
The boy was very sad and angry with the girl and returned his home. And he also said that Logic was better than Love because he thought that Love is a silly thing.

texts about technology (made by me)! :)

How much has technology changed your life (at home, at work, in school)?
Technology changed my life very much! Now it's easier to do many things, like works, talk with friends, learn new things, ..., thanks to technology.
The new technologies (mobile phone, internet, etc.) provide me more time to do other things, for exemple, to listen music, to watch TV, to play, etc.
For me, technology is essential to understand almost everything about society and the world because with technologies, we discover many things in less time.
In school, technologies help me to understand many things and to do works.
At home, my free time is spent watching TV, listening to music, surfing the Net, ...
Without technology... I can´t live!

Technology at school
Tehnology at school is very important to help students to study, to learn, to do works, ...
In classes, some teachers use technologies like computers and Internet to teach their students and help them to understand many important things.
My school is linked to the Internet and it has two rooms with computers that all students can use, but only to work.
Technology at school is very important and essential to me, because I need computers and Internet to do works from different subjects and with the new technologies, students can learn new things.

Youth and Technology... My Opinion!

How bad are mobile phones for young people?
I think that mobile phones are good and important to young people because they sometimes need to phone to their parents and they can talk with their friends, too.

Should teenagers have mobile phones?
Yes, because if happen something they can call to their parents, for exemple.

Should they use mobile in classes?
Of course not! In classes, teens must to pay attention. Classes are to learn and not to make calls!

*Smoke and Fire*

This is a summary of a book that I read.... "Smoke and Fire". It was very interesting and funny! I hope you like it! :)

Mandy is a girl who works at “Chicken King” to raise her own money, and she goes to school, too.
Her brother, Jason, smokes cigarettes, and he isn’t a good student.
One night, Mandy arrives home very tired.
And as she needed to study Maths for a test, Jason went to “Chicken King” working in Mandy’s place.
He liked to work there and he met two guys, Marvin and Gaz who invited him to go to the park that night.
However, when they arrived, the two guys invited Jason to smoke cigarettes and then to smoke marijuana, a drug.
But, Jason didn’t want to and decided to go home.
He knew that his father would be angry with him, but what he didn’t know was that his father and Mandy were looking for him, that time.
They were very worried, but they could finally find him.

His father shouted at him, but his sister believed him.
And, finally, Jason decided to stop smoking. And Mandy never went back to “Chicken King”.

NICK... a champion and an example for everyone!

I don’t have words to describe this video… it touched me a lot!
In my opinion, Nick is a CHAMPION, an amazing and fantastic man, he fights a lot and he never gives up!
He has disabilities, but it seems that these disabilities don’t prevent him to fight for life!
He looks happy… and I think that he wants to show us that being a disabled doesn’t mean that we are insignificant and need help all the time…
He’s independent and he shows us that he can have a normal life!
People like Nick are champions!
This video shows us that everyone can dream and make their dreams come true!
Nick is an example for everyone, he’s a true champion! …
:)

My opinion about disabilities!

I agree with Mrs. Cheri Blauwet. Disabled people are normal like other people, they have the same rights, feelings, but unfortunately they don't have the same abilities.
However, they are stronger and they want to show everybody what they can do to have a normal life and to be independent.
Nowadays, technologies help disabled people to have a better life.
It's important to help disabled people to be independent and happy, but don't forget that they are like you! They are adults, children or teenagers like you... they have feelings and fears like you... and they just want your friendship! :)

Cheri Blauwet: a four-time Paralyimpic medalist

Cheri Blauwet is a paraplegic and a wheelchair runner. She wants to become a developmental paediatrician to help disabled children.
She is from Iowa, USA, she lived on a farm. She lost her legs when a tractor ran over them and when she was a little girl. Her parents made everything to make her independent.
When she started to like wheelchair racing, she went to Arizona University, and after that she went to Argentina where she lived with other athletes who helped her, sometimes, when she needed.
Cheri thinks that disabled people are stronger and they can be independent and self-confident, however other people don’t think like her, those people think that disabled people need help all the time.

...*Not One of Us*...

"Not One of Us" is about three teenagers, Jack, Sandy and Danny.

Danny is cool. That’s the word that best defines him. He’s the one everyone admires. Danny’s got the coolest clothes; he knows all the cool groups. Boys don’t mind him, girls like him and Danny of course loves himself. Danny isn’t the best student but he’s probably the most popular.

Sandy, his friend, is a normal girl. She does okay at school but she doesn’t try very hard. Her parents are always working so she’s become very independent. That’s the best way to describe her.

Jack is the odd one out. He’s new at school and Jack is odd. That’s all everyone thinks about Jack, thinks he is odd. His clothes are different, his attitude, the way he thinks about things is different. Jack lives with his mother and father and, as you will see, they have a very different life style to all the other families.

And now, here you can see a work that I made about this theatre... :)

*Earth Day*

We celebrate "Earth Day" on April 22th.
This day is dedicated to OUR planet, Earth! We must to treat it well and respect our planet...
Nowadays, pollution and man cause many problems (diseases) to Earth, and we must stop it, immediately!!!

Earth is OUR HOME, so please, help it! :)

*The History of Earth Day*

In 1963, former Senator Gaylord Nelson began to worry about our planet. (A senator is a person that the people of the United States have chosen to help make the laws.) Senator Nelson knew that our world was getting dirty and that many of our plants and animals were dying.
He wondered why more people weren't trying to solve these problems. He talked to other lawmakers and to the President. They decided that the President would go around the country and tell people about these concerns. He did, but still not enough people were working on the problem.

Then, in 1969, Senator Nelson had another idea. He decided to have a special day to teach everyone about the things that needed changing in our environment. He wrote letters to all of the colleges and put a special article in Scholastic Magazine to tell them about the special day he had planned. (Most of the schools got this magazine and he knew that kids would help him.).
On April 22, 1970, the first Earth Day was held. People all over the country made promises to help the environment. Everyone got involved and since then, Earth Day has spread all over the planet. People all over the world know that there are problems we need to work on and this is our special day to look at the planet and see what needs changing. Isn't it great?

The history of Valentine's Day is a mystery.
But it thought that Valentine's Day started in the time of the Roman Empire.
In ancient Rome, February 14th was a holiday to honour the Queen of the Roman Gods and Goddesses, Juno. The Romans also knew her as the Goddess of women and marriage.

♥ St. Valentine's Day ♥

Valentine's Day is a holiday celebrated on 14th February. It’s the traditional day on which lovers express their love for each other. Some teenagers and adults send Valentine's cards, offered candies and gave flowers, too.
I think that St.Valentines Day is a special day! Almost all people love this day because it's about passion and love...
This day is "dedicated" to people that belives in love and "to live forever happy"!
In this day, people who are gotten passionate can be with their "loves" and they can demostrate how much they love them!
